The Peel is a contemporary museum in Helsinki, Finland, designed as a sculptural form that unfolds from the landscape. Inspired by the pitched roofscape of Helsinki, the building uses a “peel-up” roof to create warmth and opportunities for natural light. The landscape sinks around the building, revealing the underground museum and inviting visitors to discover the spaces gradually through a network of garden paths. By blending the landscape with architecture, The Peel creates an immersive museum experience where the building feels like it is emerging from the garden rather than simply occupying it.
